Sir William Wallace

5th August 1305 - William Wallace, who led Scottish resistance to England, is captured by the English near Glasgow and transported to London for trial and execution.

Battle of Bostworthfield

22nd August 1485 - Battle of Bosworth Field - Henry VII's forces defeat Richard III, Richard is killed during the battle and Henry becomes King Henry VII. It is because of what happened to Richard on the battlefield that King Henry VII formed the Yeoman of the Guard (Beefeaters).

John Dudley

Martha Turner

Martha Turner was a prostitute in Whitechapple. Her mutilated body was found on 7th August 1888. Richard of Shrewsbury 1st Duke of York

Born on 17th August 1473 Richard of Shrewsbury, 1st Duke of York, younger brother of Prince Edward,(Edward V). The two boy princes were thought to have been killed or ordered to have been killed by their Uncle, Richard III in 1483.
